Organise Your Own Event
Type of Event
We want you to have fun with your MS Ireland's Tea Party event so here are some ideas on the types of events you can run.
- Coffee Morning
Hold a coffee morning. Get people to bake some cookies or pick up some biccies and bring them along. Ask everyone attending to contribute a minimum amount (eg €5, €10, €20) depending on the number of guests.
- Biscuit-Eating Contest
Hold a biscuit-eating contest as a great way to power through the post weekend afternoon slump. Pick up some biscuits and see who can eat the most in a set time. An easy way to make extra donations here is by getting everyone to donate a certain amount for each biscuit eaten and a special donation for first place.
- Bake Off/Fake Off
Hold your own bake off, get into groups and see who is the baking master and who is just bluffing! To bring in the money ask people to donate a set amount for each place (eg a fiver for third place, a tenner for second place etc.)
- Biscuit Decorating Competition
Challenge a friend to a biscuit decorating competition and guests can give a donation to vote and see who has the artistic edge.
- Auction of Promises
Hold an auction of promises at your coffee morning and see just how far people will go for a good cause. You never know, you could get your boss to promise to take a vow of silence for a whole work day!
Have a five-a-side tournament in the park, get each team to pay a donation to participate and the losing team can make an extra donation.
Or if more than one idea takes your fancy, why not combine a few and have some Office Olympics in aid of MS Ireland's Tea Party? Don’t forget to invite the boss!
You can hold your event anywhere that is safe and suitable. Home, work, outdoors, your club, community centre… they’re all perfect. Don’t forget about getting permission if need and making sure health and safety and insurance requirements are looked after.
This can be whenever suits you. Be sure to choose a date and time that will ensure maximum participation eg if the office is full on a Tuesday, have it then or if your club trains on a Saturday, have it then. For outdoors events, don’t forget to check the weather!
