Women’s Mini-Marathon:

Do It For The Kids

Run, Walk or Crawl the Flora Women’s Mini Marathon to support kids and teens of people with Multiple Sclerosis.

Multiple Sclerosis Ireland works with families nationwide who are struggling with MS, a progressive neurological condition.  A series of work books, comics and activity days are of particular support to teens and kids who have a parent with MS. MS Ireland’s staff and volunteers also work in every county in Ireland to provide practical and emotional support to families.

Tony McGrath lives in Kildare and has been living with MS for seven years. He says explaining MS to his kids was tough,
“We wanted to be honest with the boys but we didn’t want to frighten them either. We used the workbooks from MS Ireland to help explain MS simply. What upsets the kids most now is that I can’t play football with them or any sport really. To be honest, It upsets me too sometimes.” Watch Tony's video

Members of the Triple Crown Winner Women’s Rugby Team are helping us promote the mini-marathon and get people into the shape to do the 10KM course. Ailis Egan, the team’s prop, says,
“Do a little bit of exercise regularly in the lead up to the day and increase the intensity little by little – walk uphill, power walk or jog for a short distance. And before and after the marathon, stretch out your muscles. Above all though, I’d say have fun!”

Sign up here or call Caitriona on 01 678 1600. The mini marathon takes place on the 4th of June and registration with the organisers will likely close at the end of March!!
